In April 2017, The The creators of such iconic albums as Soul Mining, Infected, Dusk and Mindbomb released their first new song in fifteen years
The brainchild of songwriter Matt Johnson, The The are one of the most brilliantly original bands of the 1980s and 1990s.
In 1983, The The released their debut album official, a synth-noir classic called Soul Mining, and for the next decade saw a prolific run of wonderful albums from the band whose ever-changing line-up included such luminaries as Johnny Marr and Sinead O'Connor. 1986 saw the release of Infected, another classic album featuring four charting singles including its iconic title-track and the top 30 hit Heartland.
In 1989 The The released another seminal collection, Mindbomb, reaching Number 4 in the UK album charts and spawning the number 18 hit single The Beat(en) Generation. Dusk, the band's fourth album, released in 1993 was johnson's most commercially successful, climbing to Number 2 in the album charts with three Top 40 singles.
As a singer and songwriter, Matt Johnson had been silent for many years until the release in April of 2017, of The The's first new song in fifteen years, the new single We Can't Stop What's Coming.
