Claremorris Town Hall was built in 1969. It is a self-financing and non-profit making community facility. The Hall is owned by a parent company - Clár Regional Centre Limited – a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.
During the first 20 years of its operation the hall was very successful as a Dance and Big Band venue attracting all the best known bands of the time. As a result of this activity it generated a surplus income. This was used to fund the development of much of the sporting infrastructure in the Claremorris area including GAA, Golf, Swimming and Athletics clubs.
The Town Hall hosts the annual Claremorris Amateur Drama Festival, and has hosted the All-Ireland Confined Amateur Drama Festival on two occasions.
The Claremorris Open Exhibition (COE) has used the Town Hall as an integral part of its annual Art Exhibition. COE is regarded as one of the premier events on the Irish visual arts calendar. COE attracts the best examples of contemporary Irish and international art including paintings, prints, photography, sculptures, video, light and sound installations, performance and multimedia pieces.
